Profile Summary

I am a consultant, researcher, and educator. Via my consulting group, I assist clients with strategic technology planning, technology assessment, due diligence, renewable energy management, energy policy analysis, technology scouting, and contract research. I have participated as an expert witness in several recent proceedings before the Colorado PUC including both rate cases and resource planning dockets. Much of my recent work has been primarily in the renewable and alternative energy policy arena but I also maintain a focus in other technology arenas. Contact me to see how we can help you with your technology development, deployment, and policy initiatives.
Prior to founding my consulting practice, I served for 6+ years on the Staff of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission where my principal role as a Professional Engineer and Senior Authority on Renewable Energy was to advise the commission on emerging technologies and markets in renewable and other alternative energy technologies (wind, solar, geothermal) and to analyze legislative and policy initiatives to promote clean energy generation.
Before coming to the PUC, for many years I led a small technology management consulting firm focused on technology forecasting & assessment, strategic technology planning, technology scouting, due diligence, and S&T intelligence. I was also the founding Director of the Management of Technology graduate program at the University of Denver..
My academic teaching experience includes graduate and undergraduate courses in Technology Forecasting & Assessment; Strategic Technology Planning; Finance & Accounting for Engineering Managers (aka Engineering Economics or Capital Budgeting for Engineers); Production/Operations Management; Statistical Process Control; and Technology, Ethics, & Social Responsibility. At the present time, I also teach 21st Century Global Energy Issues in the University of Colorado at Denver Global Energy Management Graduate Program.
